Soulmate & Soul Mate Connection

NOUN: One of two persons compatible with each other in disposition, point of view, or sensitivity.
The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000.

Soulmates

While that may be the official definition of a soul mate or soulmate (the words have become the same in meaning in everyday use), you probably have a zillion other words and thoughts that pop into your head when you think of a soulmate or soul mate connection, don't you? So do we. We like to think of a soulmate in more romantic terms. To us, a soulmate is our missing half, the person that makes our heart skip a beat, who completes us completely. Finding our soul mate is what it's all about, why we live and breathe and, yes, why we browse and peruse through the pages and pages of profiles on internet dating sites. But how does one go about finding that fantastically special person, that soul mate that ends the seemingly never-ending soul mate search? Well, that's also a good question, isn't it?

Finding a soulmate by searching for a soulmate, like much of dating in general, is a difficult science at best. But there are certain ways, certain practices, that may steer you in the right direction to finding your soulmate. Below are some tips on how you might find the person you might want to spend your life with.

Finding Your Soul Mate

  • Do what you enjoy with others who enjoy the same things. What do we mean by that? Well, if you like reading, join reading groups. If you enjoy sports, join a coed league. Meeting your soulmate, like meeting anyone else in life, requires that you actually meet. While opposites attract, you probably will do better meeting someone who actually likes doing the same things you like doing. Hence The American Heritage Dictionary's definition of a soul mate: [people] compatible with each other in disposition, point of view, or sensitivity.
  • Be open to meeting new people in new places with different backgrounds, who may be very different from yourself. While this seems to go against the definition of a soulmate in terms of compatibility, we're all familiar with the expression that opposites attract. If you've never done something, but have always been curious, why not give it a try? Travel to a different state, a different country. Think everyone should volunteer time to help the needy, but haven't quite gotten around to it? Do it! That compassionate person that just may be your soulmate might happen to be there, waiting for you to show up and lend a hand.
  • Ask around. Yep, we said it, and we stand behind it. Marketing yourself is not at all as bad as limiting the opportunities you have to enhance the search for your soulmate just because you think it's odd, or because you're shy. Now, we're not saying you need to throw around fliers with your picture on it under the caption 'Seeking Soulmate', but you get the idea. A casual conversation with some friends just may lead to a meeting with one of their other singles friends and, as Emeril Lagasse would say, Bam! Soulmate it is.

Find & Meet Your Soul Mate

Ever ask yourself where your soul mate connection might be found? Smart singles make better dates, but remember, 'Smart' is all in the eye of the beholder. Without posting a profile today, you may miss out on the love of your life, or some great matchmaker who may, in their sphere of influence, know just the right person that would make the rest of your life a happy one.
